I HAVE AN 87 FENDER PLUS WITH THE "WILKINSON NUT" AND MY HIGH E STRING IS DEAD WHEN PLAYED OPEN.
ARE THERE ANY TRICKS OR METHODS TO POSSIBLY ADDRESS THIS THAT ANYONE IS AWARE OF?
THX, tIM

Comments: Thanks for sharing your vast knowledge of Fender Stratocasters. I only own one guitar. It's a Jeff Beck Stratocaster, surf green, baseball bat neck and roller nut. I purchased it new in late 1993 or early 1994, (after trying many other JB Strats). I bought it from the Guitar Center, in Hollywood, CA Serial #N3140747

Comments: Hi, what a great site! I own a lovely hard ash (heavy!!!)87 S/B Plus Deluxe and a 90 wine Deluxe Standard, both rosewood. Converted the DAS to Plus w/locking tuners, tremsetter & pearl pg. The PD has factory blue/silver/red Lace. The DA had the same setup but didn't sound as good due to the softer alder body; I put a gold in the neck and put the blue at the bridge. Nice tele tones now.
I also have a 1987 21 fret rosewood board factory hardtail with 84 Torres neck & body, superbly fast. It has a 35 year old set of SD hot stax with black lace covers. All black hardware (except the tuners), black body with vintage contours. Delightful.
Finally, just got a black 1989 Precision Plus that was abused (frets yanked out w/FB damage) but no body damage. Nice project. I have to figure out the series/parallel switch for the P pickup!
Thanks again for the wonderful site, it's a real inspiration!
Cheers
