Very informative site! After reading it, I believe I have one of the "rare" Deluxe Strats. It's "vintage white" (faded to a lovely yellow) with a maple neck, has an E9_____ serial number, pearl pickguard, gold lace sensor pickups with original orange/white wiring, and swimming pool routing with the body ground wire. BUT: as you said, mine doesn't have a roller nut or locking tuners, so I think I do have one of the odd ones that "slipped through the cracks" back then. Thanks for helping me figure my "mystery" guitar. :o

You are an excellent resource. My brother bought a strat plus new years ago and set in motion my interest.a couple strat pluses and a ultra. Plus one that was a ton and the another that were just meant for someone else.

Hi there,

I was wondering if you happen to know what is the max gauge string that will fit through an early wilkinson nut?

9s? 10s? perhaps 11s?

thank you for your vast wisdom on my favorite guitars ever made!

Hi Xhefri. This would have to be one of the best Fender sites I have ever seen! The photographs are something special and highlight superbly the quality of your skills. Keep up the good work....And thanks.

Fantastic guitars - great pictures. I have always wanted a strat plus but have studied the ebay form for some time now and see so many different ones that don't seem to match the fender specs that I have always been put off. The Denmark Strret shops in London will charge 0ver £800++ for one and even then you can not be too sure what you are getting.....my quest continues.... :D

Love the site and reading info I did not know about my '87 Strat Plus. I ordered it from the factory in May of 1987...took a couple of months to arrive in Astoria, Oregon. It's Surf Green (not Sea Foam)with a maple fretboard, Sperzel tuners and the second Wilkinson nut--not split. It's an E4XXXX number, mint condition, all stock, original case. I have played it, regularly, for the past 23 years and it's still my preferred electric. Thanks for filling some gaps in my knowledge about the guitar.

I also have an '85 D'Aquisto Elite, all natural, in near-perfect condition. It's a great guitar and plays as well, action-wise, as my Strat.

Thanks, again, for a very interesting website.

Outstanding site. Well presented. I have an E4xxxxx Strat Plus in Fiesta Red in absolute mint condition and didn't see the color mentioned on the site.
